We will present three proven routes that showcase the diversity of the Tatra landscapes. Each of them offers something unique and allows you to experience the true character of the Tatras.
Nosal - the perfect first mountain in the Tatra Mountains
Nosal is a peak that can be seen from almost every corner of Zakopane. Its distinctive profile, resembling a nose protruding above the valley, has become one of the symbols of the city. At an elevation of 1,206 meters above sea level, it is an excellent destination for those starting their adventure with the Tatra trails.
The hike to Nosal from Kuźnice takes about an hour and a half at a leisurely pace. The trail leads through the forest, gradually gaining elevation, which allows the body to acclimate to the effort. The last section opens up to a space with panoramic views that reward all the hard work of the ascent. From the summit, there is a magnificent view of Giewont, Kasprowy Wierch, and all of Zakopane stretching out in the valley. You can take great photos, shoot a video, or simply enjoy the view!
The alternative route leads from the Bystre side, starting at the Murowanica stop. It is steeper but definitely less frequented, allowing for a greater sense of tranquility. When descending, one must exercise particular caution in one spot where the trail goes over rocks - it can be slippery there in wet weather. It is advisable to bring trekking poles, which will significantly ease the descent.
Strążyska Valley - walk to the waterfall
The Strążyska Valley offers a completely different kind of mountain experience. It is a place where you don't have to climb steeply uphill, yet you can immerse yourself in the truly Tatra atmosphere. The walk to the shelter takes about 45 minutes and is accessible to practically everyone, regardless of fitness level.
The trail runs along the Strążyski stream, which is particularly impressive in spring and after rain due to its strength. At the shelter, a well-deserved rest awaits you, along with the opportunity to try traditional sour soup, which tastes definitely better here than in the establishments on Krupówki, and costs significantly less. Currently, renovation work is underway on the bridges along the trail, so those planning a trip with a stroller may encounter some difficulties.
For more ambitious hikers, the valley serves as a starting point for further treks. From here, one can continue the ascent to Sarnia Skała or even to Giewont, although that is already a full-day expedition requiring good fitness and proper preparation.
Kosciuszko Valley - the longest valley in the Tatra Mountains
The Kościeliska Valley is the true queen of the Tatra valleys. Its length makes a trip to the shelter at Hala Ornak a more serious undertaking, about 7-8 kilometers one way, which translates to 2-2.5 hours of walking. However, the wide, comfortable path allows for this route to be traversed without major technical difficulties.
Along the way, we pass numerous caves, including the famous Frozen Cave, which can be visited with a guide. The valley delights with its diverse landscapes - from dense forests to open meadows with views of the surrounding peaks. In spring and early summer, the meadows are covered with a carpet of flowers, creating unforgettable sights.
The shelter at Hala Ornak is an excellent place for a longer rest before heading back. You can have a warm meal here and regain your strength for the return journey. It's worth remembering that in mountain shelters, there is often no option to pay by card; sometimes BLIK is available, but not always, so always take cash with you.
A few tips for you before heading to the Tatra Mountains
Admission tickets
When planning a trip to the Tatra Mountains, it is important to keep a few key points in mind. The entrance ticket to the Tatra National Park costs 10 zlotys (regular) or 5 zlotys (reduced). You can purchase it online at the website tpn.gov.pl, which will help you avoid queues at the entrance gates, especially during the summer season.
Place communication
Buses run to most valleys, departing from the PKS bus station. A ticket costs 5-7 zlotys, and payment is usually only in cash to the driver. It's a convenient option if you don't want to leave your car in a paid parking lot near the valleys, where prices range from 20 to 50 zlotys per day. Besides, you have parking available at our Epic Stay apartments.
Weather in the mountains
The weather in the mountains can be unpredictable and can change within a matter of minutes. Always check the forecast before heading out and bring appropriate clothing - even in summer, something warm and waterproof will come in handy.
Clothing
Good shoes are an absolute must! Absolutely do not head into the mountains in sneakers or sandals. If you really want to take a "unique photo in the style of Janusz," then pack flip-flops and a plastic bag in your backpack, but don't go to the summit like that.
Return to the comfortable base at Epic Stay Zakopane!

On-site parking for 15 zlotys per day is a convenience you will especially appreciate during the season when finding a parking spot in Zakopane is nearly impossible. And if you are traveling with a four-legged friend, after consulting with the reception and for a small additional fee, they can also accompany you in the apartment.
